Why?

There aren’t enough opportunities for people who teach computing to meet regularly, share their knowledge and learn from each other. There’s also a lack of good evidence to inform better practice in education, partly because of a disconnect between the theory and the practice. Our journal club aims tackle both these issues by bridging the gap shown in Figure 6.

Figure 6: The intersection of theory and practice is often where good stuff happens. There is nothing more practical than a good theory and there is nothing as theoretical as good practice. So, journal club is a Community of Practice (CoP) that cares about improving Computer Science Education at University and beyond. By meeting regularly, we hope to:

  • Learn from each other
  • Share best practice
  • Build and grow our community
